How Long Is a Bahamas Cruising Permit Valid?

Validity depends on which permit product you pay for (standard temporary cruising permit vs FDCC). Always confirm start/end dates and conditions on your confirmation. Authoritative customs rules: Bahamas Customs. Ready to apply with help? Less Stress Process.

Short answer

You choose a permit period when you apply (for example 30-day, 6-month, or 12-month). That choice sets how long your temporary cruising permit is good for and, for 6- and 12-month products, how many re-entries the regulation ties to that period. FDCC is a different product with its own validity.

Re-entry rules (standard temporary cruising permit)

Under the fee tables in the Customs Management (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, “re-entry” is counted against the same permit period you purchased — not unlimited come-and-go. Use this as a plain-language map; border officers and your issued permit text control the final answer.

Permit period you select What the regulation labels usually imply
30-day period Covers cruising within that thirty-day window. This line in the schedule does not advertise extra “re-entries” the way the 6- and 12-month rows do — treat it as one continuous stay window unless your confirmation says otherwise.
6-month period The schedule is titled for a six-month period with maximum one re-entry: you may leave Bahamian waters and return once during that six months on the same permit product, subject to how your permit is issued.
12-month period The schedule is titled for a twelve-month period with maximum two re-entries: up to two departures and returns during that year on the same permit product, as your confirmation reflects.

If you need more exits and returns than your period allows, you may need another permit or a different product (for example FDCC for frequent visitors). When in doubt, confirm with Bahamas Customs before you plan legs in and out of Bahamian waters.

Standard permit validity (practical)

Single-trip permits are tied to the dates and product you select during application. Keep digital copies onboard. Use the calculator to line up permit period wording with fees, then complete everything through the Less Stress Process if you want us to submit on your behalf.

Re-entry / return visitors (strategy)

If you plan multiple entries per year, compare stacked standard permits with FDCC — the better value depends on timing, re-entry limits above, and checkout pricing.

Fishing validity

Fishing permissions ride alongside your cruising permit selection. Current questions and line items appear when you apply.

When FDCC may make more sense

Frequent cruisers should model annual FDCC vs multiple standard permits using the calculator. FDCC anchorage follows Reg. 91B(2) (two-year validity in the regulation text) — different clock than standard permit periods.
